NEW YORK, June 22, 2011 (NYDN) – You may recall the 1990 divorce proceedings between Patricia Kluge and media mogul John Kluge. The highly publicized proceedings lead to Patricia Kluge being dubbed “the wealthiest divorcee in history” when she was reportedly granted a windfall of $1 billion after splitting from her husband John Kluge in 1990. (Exact figures were never given out of her divorce, but the absolute lowest estimates are around $1 million in cash per year.) However a mere 21 years later it has all run out.
The wine maven filed for personal bankruptcy protection this week. The one-time star of UK adult film “The Nine Ages of Nakedness” also got her hands on Albemarle House, a 45-room mansion on 3,000 acres in Virginia following the divorce proceedings. However she would inevitably succumb to the lavish lifestyle: hosting parties for royalty and friends at a new 300-plus-acre estate in Virgina, where she produced and bottled her wine at her own leisure.
Eventually after these outlandish social events followed by a failed attempt to remake herself as a Virginia vintner, Kluge, 62, crashed financially. She and husband William Moses have about $46 million in liabilities, according to their lawyer, Kermit Rosenberg.
Earlier this year, in a last gasp chance to secure income Kluge moved to auction off her home and its contents where none other than Donald Trump snapped up her Kluge Estate Winery & Vineyard in April after it defaulted on millions in loans. Her remaining assets are now under control of a trustee who will allocate payments to creditors beginning July 15.
